Standard Redwood Pine Finishes

Redwood pine is supplied sanded smooth & can be finished in a choice of several standard waxed, lacquered/varnished (+5%) or painted (+10%) finishes.

'Light Wax'

A light antique stain is applied prior to waxing, to achieve a more consistent depth of colour to this finish.  An 'antique' tinted wax is then sprayed to

This finish can be maintained by occasional re-waxing with a clear/light wax, or a light coat of Fiddes & Sons 'Stripped Pine' Supreme Wax will add extra colour.

'Dark Wax'

As with the 'light wax' finish, a light antique stain is applied prior to waxing. However, an extra coat of wax is applied to the 'light wax' finish to achieve this darker colour.

This finish can be maintained by occasional re-waxing with a clear/light wax, or a light coat of Fiddes & Sons 'Stripped Pine' Supreme Wax will add extra colour.

Wax Finish Care:  Additional coats of wax can richen & darken these finishes further, while also allowing the finish to be buffed to a sheen more easily for a more lustrous finish.  This finish can be maintained by occasional re-waxing.  A warm damp cloth should be used for cleaning, as even apparently mild cleaning products may affect the finish.  As with any waxed finish, to avoid heat & ring marks, we recommend the use of protection (such as mats, coasters & trivets) for any prolonged contact with warm & hot items.

'Antique Lacquer'

A golden antique stain is applied prior to finishing with a sprayed clear lacquer. Resulting in a sealed satin sheen finish, that needs minimal maintenance.

This finish is often applied to tie-in with older pine furniture with a mellowed varnish finish.

'Autumn Lacquer'

A deeper brown antique stain is applied prior to finishing with a sprayed clear lacquer.  A sealed satin sheen finish, that needs minimal maintenance.

Our most popular lacquered finish that is similar in colour to our 'antique wax' finishes.

'Jacobean Lacquer'

A dark brown 'jacobean' stain is applied prior to finishing with a sprayed clear lacquer.  A sealed satin sheen finish, that needs minimal maintenance.

Our darkest lacquered finish.

Lacquered Finish Care: This finish needs minimal maintenance.  Although UV inhibitors in the lacquers limit it's effect, these finishes will mellow to a more golden version of the original colour with exposure to UV/daylight.  A warm damp cloth should be used for cleaning, as even apparently mild cleaning products may affect the finish.  As with waxed finishes, we recommend the use of protection (such as mats, coasters & trivets) for any prolonged contact with warm & hot items.

Painted Finishes

The GB Rustic workshop offer a selection of standard waxed finishes.  All are prepared with a choice of base stain followed with a wax, to achieve this range of colours:
